My mom made this baby blanket, with white granny squares, and a flower border.

Mi mamá hizo esta manta para bebé, hecha de cuadros de la abuelita (granny), y un borde de flores.

The flower border was made with the granny squares from: the “Summer Garden Granny Square” (from Attic 24).  She alternated between the two shades of pink for the petals and center of the flowers. 

El borde floreado fue hecho con los cuadros de: “Jardín Veraniego” de Attic 24. Alternó entre los dos tonos de rosado para los pétalos y el centro de las flores.

 

For the final border, she used Bunny Mummy’s “Double V Edging”.

Para el borde final, usó el borde de Bunny Mummy: “Double V Edging”.

 

This baby blanket is part of a gift set, along with: baby hat and shoes (made by me ☺), and a flannel receiving blanket with a crocheted border.

Esta frazada es parte de un set de regalo, junto con: zapatos y botas en ganchillo (hechos por mí ☺), y una mantita de franela con un borde delicado en ganchillo.

BLANKET: Granny Tiles

A small blanket for a baby girl…

Una manta pequeña para una bebé…

I call this style: “granny tiles”.  The granny squares are in many colors, and the last row in all of them have the same neutral color, giving it a “tile look”.  A while ago I made a cushion in neutral colors using the same style: Granny Tiles inneutrals.

A este estilo, lo llamo: “azulejos de la abuelita” (ing. Granny tiles).  Los cuadros son de colores, y la última pasada se hace en un color neutral, lo cual le da la apariencia de azulejo o mosaico.   Hace un tiempo hice un cojín utilizando este mismo estilo: Cuadros GrannyNeutrales. 

For this baby blanket, I used off-white for the background.  The rest is made with many colors I had in my stash, predominantly pinkish because it is for a baby girl.

Para esta frazada, utilicé un crema claro para el fondo.  Los cuadros los hice de muchos colores, con énfasis en rosados y lilas, ya que es para una niña. 

For the border, I used the mosaic border (the same as for the 3rd Plaid GrannyBlanket).

El borde lo hice con la puntada mosaico (igual que la 3°frazada granny escocesa). 

The “granny tiles” fever caught on in our knitting group, and three more were made.  I´ll try to get some pictures to show you…

Mi grupo de tejido se contagio con la “fiebre de los mosaicos” porque ya han hecho otras tres.  Procuraré obtener fotos para mostrárselos…

2 BABY KNIT HATS

GORROS TEJIDOS para Bebé

These two baby hats were knitted with a light yarn (Dora, Madame Tricote) in colors: light olive green and country blue. (Size: 9 months)

Estas dos gorras de bebé fueron tejidos con una lana liviana (Dora, Madame Tricote) en colores verde olivo claro y azul (talla: 9 meses).  

It is basically the same basic pattern for both hats, but with a different border and top: 

Ambas gorras fueron hechas con el mismo patrón, pero con diferentes bordes y detalle en la coronilla: 

The BLUE ONE has a 2x2 rib border and a crochet button on top.

El AZUL tiene un borde en resorte de 2x2, y un botón a crochet en la parte superior.

The GREEN ONE has a simple knit stitch border which makes it curl up, and for the top I added a chain pompom.

El VERDE no tiene borde, lo cual hace que el tejido se enrolle. En la parte superior le añadí un pompón hecho con cadenas de ganchillo.

I used an old pattern I have, but there is a similar  one in Ravelry: Knit Hat.

SUCCESS STORY: Raglan Top

RESULTADO EXITOSO: Sueter Raglan

A while ago, I shared my frustration with a knit baby cardigan: "Reality Check".  The outcome was not what I was expecting.  But I learned from my mistakes, and gave it another try.  Here is the result:

 

Hace poco, les compartí mi frustración con un suéter de bebé tejido a dos agujas.  Simplemente no estaba satisfecha con el resultado.  Pero aprendí de mis errores, y volví a intentarlo, y éste es el resultado:



 

A friend wanted a short-sleeved top for her daughter (size: 18 m.), and I took the challenge. This time I used a cotton yarn in soft pink.  Instead of the garter border I used in the previous project, I decided to make the up/down borders with a rib stitch (2x2).

Una amiga quería un cardigan de mangas cortas para su niña (talla 18m), y acepté el reto.  En esta ocasión utilicé un algodón en color rosado pálido. En lugar del borde anterior que era de sólo derechos, decidí hacerlo en resorte (2x2).

 

I made the tab for the 3 buttons in crochet, very much as I have done for the other crochet cardigans.

La pestaña para los 3 botones está hecha a ganchillo, muy similar a las que he hecho para los otros cardiganes de bebé.  

 

I am happy to say that, this time, it was a success.  So much so, that I was asked to make another one exactly the same.  If I did it once, I can do it again.  For the second one, I just changed the buttons (2 in pink), and added the tab to the garter border while knitting down the sweater.

Me alegra decir que en esta ocasión el reto fue superado.  Resultó un éxito, tanto que otra amiga me pidió otro idéntico.  Para el segundo, le cambié los botones (2 en rosado), y le añadí la pestaña al borde tejido, en dos agujas.

Usually, I like to make girl hats in “granny style”, for two main reasons: one is because they are so flexible, and also because they look so feminine. 

Usualmente prefiero hacer las gorras de las niñas en estilo “granny” (abuelita), por dos razones básicas: uno, porque son muy flexible, y también porque lucen muy femeninas.

BABY BOW COLLECTION
This is a collection of baby shoes with bows.  A young mother wanted them in all these colors for her pretty baby girl: white, pink, lilac, blue, grey.

Esta es una colección de las zapatillas con moño blanco.  Una joven madre quería todos estos colores para su linda bebé: en blanco, rosado, lila, azul, gris.

BABY BOOTS collection

COLECCIÓN DE BOTAS DE BEBÉ

 

These are some crochet baby boots, made with a light yarn (Dora, by Madame Tricote), and a hook 3 mm.  I did not use a particular pattern; it is actually a mix of several (my interpretation, I guess).  I think they will look so cute on a baby boy’s feet.

Estas son unas botitas de bebé en ganchillo.  La hice con una lana delgada (Dora, Madame Tricote), y un ganchillo de 3 mm.  No utilicé un patrón específico, sino que hice una mezcla de varios (mi propia interpretación, supongo).  Creo que se verán muy tiernos en los pies de un bebé.

I love how the soles are in a different color than the rest of the shoe, don´t you?

It is easy to decorate hats for girls…just add a flower, or maybe a butterfly, or work with a lacy stitch.  But, what about hats for boys?   I have found out that boys (and men) prefer a classic look.  So here are some “classic stripes” for a boy´s hat..

Es fácil decorar las gorras para niñas--simplemente se añade una flor, o tal vez una mariposa, o usar una puntada calada.  Pero, ¿qué hay con los varoncitos?  me he dado cuenta que tanto los niños como los hombres prefieren un estilo clásico.  Así que aquí va una gorra para niño con "líneas clásicas"...

This cute baby is my cousin’s boy.  Remember him from the “Noah’s Ark blanket”?  He has grown up so much!
